About the Program

Okanagan artist Julie Oakes' painting installation The Venice Series focused on two painting series. The first, Spy Versus Spy, consisted of six paintings of Oakes in Venice's San Marco Square, dressed in black and being photographed among the birds by an Italian photographer dressed in white. The second series of four paintings was titled My Husband Who Looks Just Like Christ. The project also included a poster production advertising the exhibition in the standard style of posters at the Venice Biennale. The exhibition was co-produced with Headbones Gallery in Vernon.
