Turning the Envelope Inside Out

July 12 – 31, 1994
Exhibition

About the Program

Artists Barbara Seamon and Kristen Krimmel got together to investigate common interests for a joint show—among these being an "archival" concern for preserving fragile materials within a durable piece of art, as well as a deep and profound fascination with the paper insides of envelopes as well as their outsides. They both use ready-made materials in their work, everyday objects, and papers printed with signs, symbols, and images. These are transformed into puzzles, patterns, and new messages—like turning the envelope inside out.
