Barbara, known to many as Babs, was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and died in Vancouver where she lived most of her life. She is survived by her daughters April and Jo-Ann; her grandchildren Alison, Gabriel, Sophie, and Eli; her sons-in- law Greg Feise and Danny O'Quinn; her ex-husband and good friend, Roger Seamon; and her sisters Jo- Ann Côté and Lonnie Perry. She also leaves behind a wonderful community of friends.Babs was a talented artist, a loving mother and grandmother, a great friend, a lifelong feminist, an avid reader, a serious Scrabble player, and a terrific cook.
Barbara excelled in high school allowing her to garner an entry scholarship to Pratt Institute, followed by a second year of study at Cooper Union. She developed her art practice in a variety of media culminating in her distinct collage works. Every December, her friends and family would be the lucky recipients of her uniquely designed Christmas cards.
From the 1970s through the 2000s, Barbara was deeply engaged with the Vancouver arts community first as a member of the Vancouver Women's Interart Society and the Central Visual Artists Association, and later as a Board member of the Grunt Gallery.
Despite her declining health over the last several years, Babs lived independently until the summer of 2023. She faced many obstacles in her 86 years, and met them all with tenacity, levity, and gratitude for the support she had from her friends and family. Her creativity, quick wit, intellect, and sense of fun will be missed by all.
