This publication, in two volumes, accompanies an exhibition organized by Laurence Bossé and Hans Ulrich Obrist at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris from October 5, 1996 to January 5, 1997. The first volume presents the work of British artists, selected by the two curators, with the help of texts and numerous reproductions. There are emerging artists such as Mat Collishaw, Siobhan Liddell, Steve McQueen, and Sam Taylor-Wood, as well as other better known: Damien Hirst, Mona Hatoum, Douglas Gordon, and Gilbert & George. This first volume also contains a section devoted to the presentation of 17 British contemporary art periodicals.
