ARCTICNOISE: Geronimo Inutiq
Geronimo Inutiq
2015
The ARCTICNOISE: Geronimo Inutiq catalogue was produced by grunt gallery for the ARCTICNOISE exhibition held at grunt gallery in Vancouver, BC from August 5 to 22, 2015; Trinity Square Video in Toronto, ON from October 3 to November 7, 2015; and AKA artist-run in Saskatoon, SK from November 6 to December 5, 2015. ARCTICNOISE is a media installation by Geronimo Inutiq that draws on film footage and sound materials source from the Isuma Archive at the National Gallery of Canada, as well as sound and film materials from the artist's personal collection and other ethnographic material. At its crux, ARCTICNOISE intends to initiate conversations between various communities, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, and to provoke thoughtful exchange about the roles of Inuit orality and materiality in a post-colonial space within the context of new media artwork.
