Biography

Sachi Yamabe was born in Burnaby, British Columbia and grew up on Saltspring Island and Vancouver Island. She is third generation Japanese-Canadian (Sansei). Yamabe received a BFA from the University of Victoria in 1987 and an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1989. Her work has been exhibited in many group and solo shows and it is a part of various private and public collections. Since 2013, her and her husband’s work has become collaborative and necessarily activist in nature.
