Biography

Monique Francis is a mixed-media artist based in so-called Vancouver, BC, living and working on Coast Salish territories. Self-taught in weaving, collage, and monotype printing, she focuses on tactile and textured practices using upcycled and reclaimed materials. Through her work, Monique explores the intersections of texture, sustainability, and geometric design, informed by ongoing mentorships with artists in tapestry weaving, paper art, and botanical pigments. Since 2016, she has hosted the Crafted Connections Quiet Art Hive and curated the Palomita Free Little Art Gallery, fostering community engagement through accessible and sustainable art practices.
