Children are built from the
biulding blocks of their
parents D.N.A. I am that
child.
I am built to survive
to fight and forsee that changes
are made.
become a part of a race
a race of warriors
I am judged how I run that race
not given a chance to explore that
choice.
determined to make a ruling to speak
for the future.
I am tired of struggling
I want to live
I no longer want to be on my knees
I am standing up
standing up to fight for many fronts
as 2spirited Okanagan woman
I arm myself to fight a never ending battle
I am slaughtered on the battlefield
between the horns of internal civil
conflict, injured.
The wayward front shifts and moves
at each sharp turn, so much that I swing the
sword I call my pen at my grassroots, my
allies, my kin, at my sister, mother, brother, and lover.
Hear my cries
I want to lay down my arms and surrender
only to have the pus ooze from my wounds
see how it oozes from my knees
see how I am still walking
see how I still walk with wounded knees
