About the Program
A collaboration of photography by Rosamond Norbury—documentary photographer, gender outlaw, and author—and a performance by Star Maris—transgender musician, poet, and performance artist, The Last Sunrise documented Maris' journey through madness to enlightenment and from man to woman. Photography, through darkroom manipulation of multiple images incorporated into a single photograph illustrated the journey with 8 to 10 images printed with liquid light on large format fibre-based paper. Performance, told the story through a combination of music-partly pre-recorded and composed by Maris and two additional musicians, Joseph Pepe Danza and Lauri Lyster, as well as through spoken word, theatre, and movement.~root~>Curator
