About the Program

In her performance The Brain Dress, Vancouver-based curator and performance artist Lori Weidenhammer uses computer technology to tell very human stories: A woman is afraid of the telephone. She looks into her past, and the family's past to discover the root of this fear. When she touches her dress, sounds and images trapped in her memory are released and played in repetitive loops. She sifts through her personal archives, searching for clues to help her re-connect to her grandmother over the telephone.
