About the Program

Memory is the starting point of inspiration in the work that Dale Roberts is exploring in Threaded Chronicles. Using his experience of growing up in a coastal village in Newfoundland that was still in relatively untouched by the outside world, he recounts that because of this seclusion he developed a very strong connection to the sea and land. This new series of crochet/netted works is looking to the merging of ideas, methods, and heritage, finding a sense of place, a connective tissue through time and space. Threaded Chronicles was presented in conjunction with Convergence 2002, the biennial conference of the Handweavers Guild of America.
