About the Program

Dagmar Dahle's series of paintings, China Birds, explores European decorative arts traditions during the period of development of sea trade between Europe and Asia in the 17th and 18th centuries. By using ordinary, everyday objects from the 1950s and 1960s readily found in working and middle class households she uses free association to link historical events.
