About the Program

Shelly Rahme's Beauty Piece exhibition is the third in the New Sculpture Series guest curated by sculpture and writer Robin Peck. Rahme's plaster sculptures invert the hierarchy of materials by using an inexpensive secondary material—traditionally used for model-making, copies, and as a disposable mold material during metal casting—as the final product. As she does this, she reverses history, revealing the occulted sources of modernism.
