About the Program
For Alter Pieces: a painting installation, Thomas Anfield produced a mural based on Pontormo's Christ in Glory and the Creation of Eve, a work we know by drawings as the original was destroyed. But in Anfield's version, the figures are all based on the stuffed canvas rag doll that has dominated his work over the past several years. The installation at grunt showed fragments from the work with photographs of the completed mural. The evening of January 25, 1995 featured a performance by the Pre Martha Milner Ensemble.Artist
