About the Program

Guest curated by Donna Hagerman, Tales From the Shack and More features Geoff Carter's etchings inspired by an anthropological-like investigation of a couple of Downtown Eastside glue sniffers. On his lunch breaks from his factory job, Geoff, accompanied by a friend, conducts his research. Careful not to disturb the sniffers privacy, Geoff observes, collects clues and deduces about what happens behind the windows of a shack they visit. By cutting and pasting images, Geoff reaches a creative state not unlike the glue- induced, altered perception of reality. He then transfers these twisted studies to the etching plate.
