Self Portrait

June 11 – 29, 1991
Exhibition

About the Program

Valerie Romain's Self Portrait examines themes of guilt, fighting, religion, and her own psyche. It is an exploration of textures and colours, using black, browns, dark greens, and golds. Newspaper and paint collages, using both image and text, are meticulously put together with great respect for texture and message. The artist never sees herself as a static entity and her understanding of herself is always changing. Her work reflects those different and often conflicting views.
