About the Program

Elaine Brewer-White's multi-media installation Life and Struggles and Cloud Formations deals with how people become trapped in their occupations, relationships, and attitudes. Her work has long dealt with domestic situations in a humorous and intimate fashion. Her characters—an artist, an industrialist, a lover, a sex worker, a welfare recipient, and an addict—all become caught in the web of their own life. A soundtrack voices the subjects' condition and how they arrived where they are. The viewer is left to consider their own traps.
