Adam's Rib

About the Program

Laurie Papou's Adam's Rib was a painting show that viewed the world through the eyes of allegory. Papou believes that a strong drawing or painting is a silent essay of allegory and that the very essence of the work is lodged in the ambiguity of its silences. These works are large (4' x 5') paintings on canvas. The mediums are acrylics, pencil, collage, pastel, and modelling paste. Four of these paintings portray important historical women. The others represent 'types' of women.
