Kibbles 'n' Bits

About the Program

Ron LaPierre's Kibbles 'n' Bits features assemblage that is bright and colourful. It has the texture and feel of a Woolworths store in the toy section surrounded by useless bits of plastic. There is a sense of advertisement and consumerism. The shows are named after television programs and toys from different shows are evident. Spock stands on the top of Days Of Our Lives which is a plastic replica of evolution from our neanderthal past to a Star Trek future. The titles are not literal and don't bring to mind the shows they come from. Combat shows plastic soldiers defending consumer items from a grocery store shelf. One kneels poised behind a can of South American coffee. The work is alive with miniature scenarios and still lives that are both insightful and silly.
