About the Program
The works in Gary Ouimet's O' Gluttony are a response (both ecological and ideological) to a society which revolves more and more around wasteful consumption—a pursuit that stems from a desire to somehow be fulfilled in a world that offers only drudgery, paycheque, consumption, etc. By transforming the urban detritus of contemporary society into witty assemblages that provoke conventional notions of sculpture, Ouimet is able to avoid taking part in the ritual of consumption while also commenting on it. The pieces have powerful messages that are often poignant and moving.~root~>Artist
