About the Program

Kul del Rosario's sculptural installation Bubbling Holey Gobs Claim Space used construction materials to challenge the conventional ways in which these materials are used and our ideas of buildings. The artist is attracted to the simplicity of stacking as a form of constructing. This method is direct and creates a rhythmic pattern along the sides of the sculptures. With this approach, the viewer can visualize how the sculptures reached their final configuration. As with many artists, her use of recycled and scavenged materials, partial constructions, and temporary spaces have the ability to disrupt and question domestic and public spaces.
