About the Program
Georgie Haggerty's New Shapes was a show of paper mache sculptures produced in the previous six months. Similar to the work shown earlier that year at Pitt International, this work was larger in size. Again the materials are obvious, the newspaper readable, the colours and printing form an integral part of the statement. There is a deceptive simplicity to the work that sometimes hides the processes that are its essential elements.
