Beyond the Pale

October 6 – 17, 1987
Exhibition

About the Program

Stan Lake's ceramic masks and figurines are well known to Vancouver gallery goers. Last year's successful Bric a Brac exhibition at the Montgomery and the Swan Leak exhibition at the old Pitt Gallery have been his only solo exhibitions in Vancouver to date. His inclusion in the last two False Face mask exhibitions have always drawn attention and exclamation. This time, Lake takes us Beyond the Pale with his new series of decadent ceramic masks and figures that both parody English porcelain tradition and make a statement on the preciousness of the art object.
