About the Program

Grunt Or Artspeak was an exhibition featuring a selection of work representing three local alternative galleries: grunt, Or, and Artspeak. The exhibition took place at the Charles H. Scott Gallery and included a reading by members of Artspeak/Kootenay School of Writing on June 13, 1987. The grunt section was curated by Glenn Alteen and featured artists Daav MacNab, Gary Ouimet, Bill Rennie, Garry Ross, and Hillary Wood; the Or section was curated by Ellen Ramsey and included Daniel Congdon, Sheila Hall, Catherine Jones, and Warren Murfitt; the Artspeak section was curated by Cate Rimmer and had Lorna Brown, Laura Lamb, Doug Munday, Reid Shier, Nancy Shaw, Deanna Ferguson, and Kathryn MacLoed. The reading included Colin Browne, Jeff Derksen, Dan Farrell, Kathryn MacLeod, Tom Wayman, Calvin Wharton, and Gary Whitehead.
