Creative Access Description

A colour landscape image of four mixed-media drawings mounted on a white wall in a gallery space with track lighting illuminating the works. The first two drawings on the left resemble a diptych, mounted on the wall close to each other in similar dimensions, one in landscape orientation and the other in portrait. The panels feature a black-and-white collage drawing depicting a figure suspended mid-air against a honeycomb background and a collage drawing of colourful abstract geometric forms, with line, grid and dot patterns, and ripped-up portions of photographs. In the centre of the wall is a large drawing depicting a dead tree trunk, filled with bees in its cross-section, standing against a white rectangular background with a honey-orange streak swirling around the tree. In the tea-stained-coloured margins are flying insects with grain-like shapes floating in the air. The drawing at the end of the row portrays a headless body with the cross-section of a human neck spurting blood cells out into the picture frame from severed carotid arteries. The figure holds up a transparent sheet between its thumb and index finger. A large tubular body resembling a snake with dark green scales wraps around the figure, entangling itself around the figure’s arms and shoulders.
