Creative Access Description

A colour portrait image of a large-scale studio photograph in portrait orientation mounted on a white wall in a gallery space. The photograph displays a side-profile portrait of an Anishinaabe woman with long black hair, posing in a sumptuous cloak of crimson roses that hangs down to the floor against a dark grey background. She appears to be sitting down while looking off to the distance towards the left. Most of her body is obscured by the cloak except for a hand resting on a knee that is sticking out with a black cutwork lace fabric draped over her left arm underneath the rose cloak. At the bottom of the rose cloak, there is a soft, brown fur material shielding the edges of the rose cloak from the floor. The bloom roses rest neatly on top of the thick and fluffy fur that ripples and folds, glistening under the light.
