Creative Access Description

A colour landscape image of four large-scale studio photographs mounted on the white walls of a gallery space. The east wall has one photograph, in landscape orientation, that depicts an Anishinaabe woman sitting on the ground behind two vertical ice blocks against a grey tarp background. She is wearing a grey hoodie and jeans and has one hand up against the ice block on the right. On the north wall is another photograph in landscape orientation featuring an Anishinaabe woman sitting semi-prone sideways on one hip on a clay-covered ground. Her clothes, a simple t-shirt and pants, have been caked with mud. She is scrubbing the ground with a clay-soaked rag and a bucket of mud sitting beside her. On the west wall, there are two portrait photographs, one is a large side-profile portrait of an Anishinaabe woman with long black hair, posing in a sumptuous cloak of crimson roses that hangs down to the floor against a dark grey background. To the left of this is a photograph that shows an Anishinaabe woman suspended in the air in a sitting position against a creased and crumpled craft paper background that gathers around her and covers her body like a cloak, blending into her beige-coloured clothing.
