Creative Access Description
A colour landscape image of comic pages installed in a gallery space. There is a large strip of turquoise blue painted across a white wall. Mounted on the wall within the turquoise-painted area are two large comic spreads, each consisting of two pages. The original comic works were drawn in black pen and ink, which were then scanned, enlarged and each page printed on 30-inch by 40-inch photo rag paper. The spread on the left is titled “Jean Lumb: Entrepreneur, Activist & Mother” and the spread on the right is titled “Sam Chong Laundry”. The comics contain hand-drawn illustrations that tell the stories of Jean Lumb and Sam Chong Laundry. In the middle of the space, is a large custom-made white table with two screen-printed accordion books, titled “Cheng Foo” and “Mary Ko Bong”, laid open on top of the table with a plexiglass case protecting them. The books contain hand-drawn illustrations that tell the stories of Cheng Foo and Mary Ko Bong.Description
