Carol Sawyer as Amazonia: The Amazing Story of One Woman's Transformation
Carol Sawyer
1998
Published in conjunction with an exhibition held at Artspeak Gallery from May 1 to June 6, 1998. This catalogue in the form of a zine presents a story about three women who get together to discuss Sawyer's recent transformation into the mythic super-heroine "Amazonia"—a parody of Wonder Woman. Through this fictitious dialogue questions concerning feminist theory, patriarchy, phallocentrism, and the male gaze are considered in relation to popular culture.
