Catalogue of Rudolf Schwarzkogler's exhibition at the University of British Columbia's Fine Arts Gallery, April 23 to May 22, 1993. In the publication, curator Scott Watson clarifies Schwarzkogler's link with Hermann Nitsch and other Viennese artists and discusses the artist's "actions" in relation to both avant-gardism, family events, and self-mutilation. Giving special attention to the theme of healing in Schwarzkogler's work, Kristine Stiles gives an account of the artist's life and of the contrast between his photographed "tableaux" and performances.
