Creative Access Description
A colour landscape image of works installed in a gallery space with white walls, a window wall entrance and cement floors. In the center of the space are two low, square benches made out of bamboo and wood. Below the bench closest to the entrance are smaller versions of them made out of ceramic, glazed in a shiny coating, and arranged in a circular position. Two more mini ceramic benches are placed in the center of the second bench, closer to the back of the gallery, stacked on top of each other between which are pages of paper containing poetry. Behind the benches is a denim patchwork tapestry suspended on a line that bisects the gallery from west to east. The patchwork is erratically and loosely stitched to allow holes and patches of sunlight to peek through. Along the west wall are three works featuring rectangular panels connected vertically and suspended from metal flagpoles installed on the wall. All three works incorporate various plastic and found materials. At the end of this wall is a rectangular, horizontal canvas painted in muted teal with the name “MARY JANE” prominently displayed in bold, black, all-caps letters centred on the canvas.
