Post Peripheral Flux: A Decade of Contemporary Art in Istanbul
Beral Madra
1996
Post Peripheral Flux: A Decade of Contemporary Art in Istanbul is a collection of essays and papers by Turkish curator and art writer, Beral Madra, writing on the Contemporary Turkish art scene. Says Madra, "Throughout these years, I observed that an art game was being played everywhere and in this art game territories, frontiers, people, objects, concepts, concepts, theories are strictly divided and discriminated according to political, economical sovereignty of financial and mediatic success." Speaking from the position of a writer on the periphery, Madra's criticism and insights on mainstream art institutions, systems and values, are thoughtful contributions to the development of the contemporary Turkish art scene. Divided into two parts; the exhibitions, followed by conference papers.
