Creative Access Description

Black and white landscape oriented image a work of performance art. A performer, dressed in black robes with a white lacy garment around his neck, and wearing an oversized headpiece built of paper mache to look like the artist Diego Rivera, sits on a low metal scaffolding next to a white gallery wall. The head is comical in its proportion to the performer's body, appearing top heavy and prone to imbalance, and has exaggerated facial features. The performer faces a white gallery wall on which has been painted a sketch-like self portrait of the effigy of Diego Rivera. A spotlight casts the performer's shadow on to the wall and the drawing. The upper framework of a metal scaffolding, from which the performer works, extends upward from the bottom edge of the image. The photograph sits off centre to the left of a thick white border.
