The video documents Jen Yakamovich’s experience as a tactile artist-in-residence at grunt gallery during the Tactile Residency 2022-2023. As a drummer, composer, and improviser with an inherited retinal disease, Jen explores conversations around blindness and the fluidity of perception between vision and lack thereof. Through her practice, she emphasizes the importance of physical and embodied experiences, highlighting how the tactile and auditory aspects of playing drums help her navigate and understand her evolving sight. The video showcases her playing and setting up her drum kit, expressing the intersection of her musical talent and personal journey with vision loss. It was shot at grunt gallery.
