Creative Access Description

Black and white landscape image of a white man kneeling on the floor and leaning forward with both hands together holding a piece of soapstone to a sheet of sandpaper that is attached to the floor. The man has short hair and thin framed glasses and wears a white t shirt and dark pants. A tripod is set up above the man's hands, on which is mounted a video camera pointing straight down to capture him working from a printed image that lays on the ground to his left. The camera is connected to a projector sitting atop a plinth at the left edge of the frame, and the projection falls on a small screen mounted on the wall above and behind the man. The projection shows the man's forearms and hands holding the soapstone and overlapping circular patterns he has polished into the sandpaper. Assorted performance supplies are arranged against the wall behind the man, as well as two small clip-on lamps pointing upward from the floor to partially light the space, their beams falling on the white wall to the man's right, and casting shadows on the covered grid of windows that make up the wall behind him.
