Creative Access Description

Colour landscape image of a Nehiyaw Isko woman performing in front of a large projection and a series of standing mirrors. Standing right of centre frame, she wears platform moccasins and is wrapped in a shawl made from hundreds of bepsi (soda) can pull tabs woven together with long nylon streamers in bands of light blue, pink, orange, lavender, and white, which hang in a long fringe from the edge of her shawl down to her ankles. Her forehead is decorated with a dense cluster of shiny pink beads and a number of white sequinned barettes hold her golden brown hair, which spills over her shoulders under the shawl. Her face is turned toward the camera, her stoic expression, costume, and stance giving her a regal look. She stands under a dimmed spotlight illuminating the warm hardwood floor and a profile view of her in one of the standing mirrors to her right, the other mirrors reflecting only darkness. Behind her is a projected image of her floating in dark water on her back, shot from above, the darkness and effect of the water currents giving the image a spectral quality.
