Creative Access Description

Colour landscape image of a Nehiyaw Isko woman performing in front of a large projection and a standing mirror. The woman stands to the right side of the frame extending her right arm above her head and her left arm in front of her. Obscuring her head and shoulders and extending down her arms is a shawl made from hundreds of bepsi (soda) can pull tabs woven together with long nylon streamers in bands of light blue, pink, orange, lavender, and white. The texture of the shawl blurs the light reflecting off of it. Behind her and to her left is a rectangular standing mirror reflecting her image toward the camera and revealing the back of the shawl and the right side of her face. Her makeup consists of blue eyeshadow and strong dark lines above and below her eyes as well as a vertical line down the centre of her lips and chin, her forehead is decorated with a dense cluster of shiny pink beads and her hair is held back by a series of sequinned pink and white barettes. Behind the mirror a large projection of blue water fills the right two thirds of the frame, the lefthand third is in darkness.
