Peter Baren: Blind Dates with the History of Mankind
Peter Baren, Marga van Mechelen, Bart Rutten, Alex de Vries, Renee Bremer-den Hartog
2013
Peter Baren has been working as a performance artist since 1980, presenting his work all over the world at festivals, museums and other cultural institutions such as ‘Infraction Venezia 2’, during the Venice Biennale in the summer of 2013. Blind Dates with the History of Mankind forms the first comprehensive survey of Baren’s work featuring hundreds of images plus descriptions of performances - including scores. The book contains two essays by prominent Dutch writers Marga van Mechelen and Alex de Vries discussing the meaning of Baren’s work within the international context of contemporary art and the performing discipline. Bart Rutten also conducts an interview with Peter Baren about his practice.
