Creative Access Description
A colour landscape image of works mounted on the sandy brown walls of gallery space with cement floors. On the left wall, at the top, there is black vinyl lettering reading “Jan Wade” in a sans-serif font. Underneath that, there are three pieces mounted in a row. Two pieces on the left and right are acrylic-on-wood paintings containing an eye with three teardrops and the words “VIVANT” and “AYITI”. In between these two paintings is a piece consisting of a wooden cross mounted on a rectangular wooden plank panel with a small black body figure placed in the centre of the cross. To the right of this triptych, is a worn-out bullseye target with scratches on the surface. Next to it are three framed black and white portraits of a Black man in military uniform. The middle frame is larger and is placed between two smaller frames. On the wall right next to this is a work that contains a poem with the words placed in individual dark wooden frames arranged into three rows: five frames at the top, three in the middle and four on the bottom row. The poem is spelled out using red stencils on white-painted cardboard squares. The frames vary in size and orientation with the interiors varying in their colouring, a combination of lavender or brown camouflage.~root~>Description
