Creative Access Description
Colour portrait image showing a photo college made up of nine printed photos in portrait orientation, arranged in three rows, mounted on a white wall. The images show a selection of close shot detailed views of a small totem pole at 'Ksan (Ksan) / Kispiox, a Gitxsan community at the confluence of the Bulkley and Skeena Rivers near Hazelton, BC. The pole depicts a scene from the story Raven Steals the Light and is attributed to the Gitxsan carver Ken Mowat (Terrace Standard, 1989). It is carved from unpainted golden brown wood. The images feature various views of the figure of the Raven releasing a human figure from an ovular enclosure beneath its feet. The images are backgrounded by a nearby building, one of them features a larger totem pole lying on its side next to the building. Handwritten text reading 'Raven Steals the Light M MacDonald '87' is faintly written in the centre of the bottom edge of the piece.~root~>Description
