Creative Access Description
A colour landscape image of a series of square metal-framed photographs arranged in a partial grid formation mounted on the white walls of a gallery space. The photographs are connected at the edges and arranged into geometrical shapes resembling a crossword puzzle or Tetris shapes with four arrangements pictured in this image, three on the west wall and one on the north wall. In a repeated format, the photographs feature cool white panels with Farsi script printed diagonally in black. The warmly lit eyes of the artist are pictured behind the panels through circular cutouts with heaped dressmaking pins surrounding the eyes in a wreath that reads, cartoon-like, as hair and beard, or the prickly outline of a 'happy face'. Underneath the eyes, where a mouth should be, are English words rendered on top of the photograph, in dripping red cursive. Within the series, the eyes’ expressions vary from alarm, to suspicion, to recognition in reaction to our gaze.~root~>Description
