Biography

Nathalie Derome is an interdisciplinary artist and performer with over 35 years of art practice. She has been artistic director of Des mots d'la dynamite for over 30 years. Her work questions the practice of "Make believe" in different ways and uses the practice of orality, theater, poetry, music, and video. Her shows have been seen in Quebec, Canada, USA, France, Italy, Poland, and Cuba. In 2008, she published Les temps qui courent / Vingt ans de parole tenues at Planet Rebel publishing house. From that moment, she immerses herself in research and creation for the very early childhood (children 18 months and older). Fascinated by the quality of presence that little ones impose, she signs for them three interdisciplinary creations: Le Spectacle de l’arbre (2009), Là où j’habite (2013) and Magie lente (2016). In parallel with her creative work, she leads introductory workshops on interdisciplinary work and occasionally teaches at the Universities of Quebec, including UQAM, where she graduated in 2014 with a Master's degree focusing on the appropriation of language.
