Biography

Thom E. Hawke, also known as Allen Deleary, is an Ottawa-based multidisciplinary artist of Chippewa descent from the Walpole Island First Nation. His appearance at the 1990 Vancouver Writer's Festival earned him a standing ovation for his post-Oka performance poetry. Thom E. Hawke was also a founding member of the band Seventh Fire (formerly Thom E. Hawk and the Pineneedles), who fused traditional powwow music with rock, reggae, rap, and performance art to deliver satire and political commentary about the state of Indigenous life in Canada.
