Biography

Shi Yong was born in Shanghai, graduating from the Fine Art Department of the Shanghai Light Industry College in 1984, having specialized in Design. His work has focused on the modernization of his city in a period of transformation and globalization. Exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions internationally, it has taken many forms, including painting, performance, photography, sculpture, video, and installation. Shi’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in China and internationally, including in the 4th and 5th Shanghai Biennale in 2002 and 2004, and the Third Asia Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane in 1999. Shi Yong lives and works in Shanghai.
