Biography

Brice Canyon, born in 1960, was a seminal queer artist, curator, and writer. He worked at Western Front as well as at grunt gallery, where he was instrumental in the early arrangement and development of the archive as a rich and accessible resource for researchers and fans of contemporary art in Vancouver. With Glenn Alteen, Brice co-curated the 1999 performance art festival Live at the End of the Century, a 5-week festival in galleries across Vancouver that grew into the LIVE Biennale. The Live at the End of the Century catalog, available from grunt gallery, is a must for lovers of queer and Two-Spirit art and samples over 35 years of performance arts in Vancouver. Brice's work can also be found in the books Kate Craig: Skin and Laiwan’s Quartet for the year 4698 or 5760: improvisation for four projectors. Brice is survived by his love, artist Claude Perreault. He died in 2019.
