Sheri-D Wilson is the award-winning author of 13 books, 4 short films, and 4 albums which combine music, and poetry. Known for her electric performance-style, Sheri-D has performed and taught workshops at festivals around the world. In 2019, Sheri-D was appointed to The Order of Canada, for her contributions as a Spoken Word Poet and her leadership in the community. In 2017, she received her Doctor of Letters–Honoris Causa from Kwantlen University. Wilson brings a quirky sense of humor, and an uplifting presence to all of her work. A strong advocate for social change and community building, in 2003 she founded The Calgary Spoken Word Society and remains the Artistic Director today. For 11 years the society produced a very large Spoken Word Festival and sidekick School Program. In 2005, Sheri-D founded The Spoken Word Program at The Banff Centre and was Director/Faculty until 2012. Sheri-D lives in Calgary and Vancouver, where she’s as busy as the emblem of Canada–editing a 350-page epic poem to be published in 2023 by Write Bloody North. She’s a Marriage Celebrant and Ceremonialist and is often sighted with her dog Willow.
