Biography

Claude Perreault lives and works in Montreal, practicing the art of collage for over twenty years. The interest he has in this art comes from his fascination with images and their manipulation, and focuses on the world of appearances and its underlying aspects, taking a rather irreverent and critical look at our society. His academic training in scenography is not without influencing the theatrical aspect of his works, and sometimes pushes him to draw inspiration from famous people, adding a generous touch of irony and kitsch. This practice is essentially based on the antagonism exerted by the pictorial result perceived in its entirety, and the nature of the components that form this same result, which ideally encourages the spectator to make a second reading of the work in order to detect its many secrets.
