Biography

Born on November 2, 1914 in Pihkva, Estonia, Ene Falkenberg studied painting and sculpture at the Pallas Art Academy in Tartu, Estonia (1936-38 and 1941-43) and at the State School of Fine Arts in Tallinn, Estonia (1938-1941). A member of Federation of Canadian Artists, Falkenberg exhibited in Tallinn, Stockholm, London (Ontario), Toronto, New York, Whiterock, and Vancouver, and won many awards for painting and drawing. She was a founding member of New Canadian Artists in Toronto in the early 1950s (now known as Colour and Form) and has works in private and public collections, including at Lund University in Sweden, Delta Municipality, Mormon Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah, the San Francisco Wax Museum, the Tokyo Wax Museum, and the Estonian House in Toronto. Ene Falkenberg died in Toronto on March 10, 2003.
