Lise Labrie holds a BEd, a certificate in arts and crafts (Université du Québec à Chicoutimi), and a degree in science and letters (Université de Grenoble, France). Her interests lie in archaeology, ethnology, and history, particularly the rituals that bring man closer to nature. Using natural materials, fossils, bones, animal tracks, and appendages, she pursues an environmental approach through installations, in-situ works, and the integration of art into architecture. Labrie bases her work on the spirit of a site and its social, political, and ecological dimensions, creating symbols, signs, and structures that question the legacy of contemporary societies. She participated in the first Biennale des arts visuels de l’Est du Québec, held in 1984 at the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent in Rivière-du-Loup, and in the 1987 exhibition Esprits des lieux at the Musée régional de Rimouski. She also coordinated the international symposium ArtNature (Le Bic) in 1995 and served as curator at Neige sur neige (Le Bic, 1996), and Métissage (Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, 1994).Adapted from Espace art actuel, 2021
