John Crossen

Biography

John Crossen studied at the Vancouver School of Art, majoring in graphics and illustration, and has taught Photoshop and Flash Animation at North Vancouver's Capilano University in the night school and the summer kids programs. From 1979 to 1999, he ran a successful plant, floral, and display business. In 1994, he produced his first Children's book Balloonland—the story of a little girl who takes a journey to Balloonland, a colourful, mythical place where she encounters the quintessential forces of good and evil. Crossen has created illustrations for a variety of magazines and newspapers, including Xtra West, and was Art Director for the Canadian humour magazine Chatter Inc. His other artistic projects include creating various web projects; designing an ad campaign for an adult summer camp in Whistler, BC; and decorating North Vancouver's Park Royal shopping centre.
